Some would consider it little more than a mass,
A place holder.
It sits.
Purely reactive.
It ripples, and flows, and crashes.
The city crouches around it,
Poised within itself,
Streets of dirt and squalor and grime.
Yet when viewed with the correct perspective,
This inhumane mass,
This placeholder,
This water
It brings the city to life
Its skin,
Stretches over the horizon.
Rippling and twisting around the boats that cut it.
Its veins,
twist and spiral,
Trapped beneath the tonnes of concrete
And even when confined
Even as we poison it
And drain it
And exploit it
The harbour inspires a freedom
