On the rise of the pandemic, our Associative Editor and Feature Writer May Ann Paliza wrote a feature article shining another light on the usual places we have in our houses with a Filipino twist. I, on the other hand is the Art Editor tasked to visualize from the text.

It’s safe to say that things are understandably weird right now. As the world reacts to the pandemic, people across the world are staying home, quarantining, and practicing social distancing as an effort to slow―and hopefully stop―the spread of coronavirus.

Since there are community quarantine in most areas of the Philippines, you can’t get out of your house unless it’s necessary. No gatherings, no classes, closed tourist spots; we have to be cooperative and stay to protect not only ourselves but also our loved ones. “Pero ang boring ng nasa bahay lang!” (But it's so boring, I'm stuck inside!) So, to ease my boredom I decided to travel...inside our house. With travel basically at a standstill, it’s time to embrace a new way to see the world. Recreate those experiences and start manifesting your travel goals at home today!

SALAS Vegas

SaLas Vegas has become part of pop culture as the 'Sin City,' thanks to its numerous unconventional adventures readily available for tourists—where the 'paluan serye' (spanking series) with Nanay happens. One of major reasons that makes SaLas Vegas universally enticing is that it caters everyone regardless of age. It has all kinds of attraction. For example, you can find all kinds of balat ng foods (wrappers of foods), forgotten to throw at the trashbin. Top notch shows are being held from Magandang Buhay to 100 days to Heaven—any kinds of entertainment you want can be found...you should just hide the remote control.

Note: "Sala" is known as living room in Tagalog.

South KUSINA (South Kitchen)

You can keep your dream alive and accomplish all of the above by visiting the Land of the Morning Calm better known as South Kusina. It brings an incredible appetite of meaningful attractions to the table. One of the best ways to experience South Kusina’s culture is through the culinary (charot!) delights. The people who visit South Kusina can indulge some of their tasty treats like 'TuSiLog' a traditional rice dish. The rice is topped with freshly cooked vegetables, a sunny side up egg, and tuyo (kind of dried fish). Along with this is the different flavored noodles (also called Lucky Me and Pancit Canton), tuna in can, freshly baked pastries from Rinas, and more.

Banaue Rice TERRACEs

People who know of this destination can't help but admire this amazing accomplishment. This Banaue Rice Terrace represents the absolute harmony between man and environment. As such, the place is given utmost protection to preserve its unparalleled beauty—bawal mag-bato-bola baka matamaan ang mga welcome plant ni Nanay (It is forbidden to play ball, you might hit the welcome plant of Mom!). Admittedly, visiting the Banaue Rice Terrace is difficult because it is situated in far-flung area and you have to pass sleeping people on the floor. Take note, don't make noise if you don't want to be scolded.

KWARto Princesa (Room Princess)

One of the New Seven Wonders of...a person today, Kwarto Princesa! Sure, you don't need convincing to visit this place to your bucket list but there are thousand reasons why you need to put this to-do on top of your priorities. The site is home to mattress-to-mattress habitat for conservation. Nothing compares to the other worldly experience it has to offer. After all, it's a once in a lifetime experience—more that eight hours of sleep is indeed a blessing.
BANYO City (Comfort Room City)

If you find yourself up in the mountain to relish its cool weather, why not take it up a notch and redefine your experience with Banyo City? The City of P-ines is always a refreshing change from the hot and sweaty feeling. You'll find a cool breeze from a natural water, fresh from the gripo (faucet). Swimming, diving and surfing, these are just some of the things you'll be able to do but...be sure not to crack the basin you used because you know what will happen next.

That's it! Did you enjoy our #TravelGoals at home? Perhaps when the time comes for us all to travel again, we'll appreciate it that much more—and remember that doing one at home could be another way to go on a journey. Let’s just think of the brighter side of things! Staying at home and avoiding unnecessary gatherings or travel will keep everyone safe. Be socially responsible. Everyone, iwas muna sa gala-gala (Stay away first on traveling).
