Nostalgia
A stool, 2021

Each component of the stool is part of the narrative of a typical Singaporean child's time in primary school.
The clock represents the two timings of the day we would use to look forward to in primary school; recess at 10am and dismissal at 2pm. The weaved seat is made of skipping rope as that's one of the things played with during recess. Moving on to the base of the chair, it consists of ice pops (filled with epoxy resin), a typical after-school snack bought from 'mama shops' where the shop aunty would hand us the ice pops out of her window grilles. Hence, to mimick that memory, the ice pops are "hung" on the frame of the stool that represents the window grilles of the 'mama shop' I would run to, along with other children. Nostalgia is a stool designed to encapsulate the Campana Brothers' ethos of re-using and re-inventing materials to achieve local characteristics.
