LOOP

As graphic designers we work across many different mediums and communication platforms in this short project we will explore motion graphics and how our ideas can be explored and conveyed through time-based media. Engaging with users in different ways trying to get across our message in the most effective way of learning new skills along the way.

Brief

“Based on research and experimentation, you are asked to develop a concept and visual language to create a short looping animation appropriate to promote a dance company and their show. Your visual language can be typographic, form-based, image-led, or a combination of all these. Visuals may be created using analogue or digital technologies and techniques, or a mixture. Details of the dance company/s and show/s will be launched on Aula during the unit briefing.”
Motion graphics are graphic design given life instead of static elements without movement. With technology becoming more powerful and dominant, digital effects various styles of motion graphics are becoming their form of art in the 21st century
Animating: Logo’s, Posters, or Shapes and Icons are a big part of motion graphics seen all over the internet and on our devices, such as loading icons and screens.

Motion graphics can be used to convey a story, ideas certain feelings or just expression an object, word and oneself. Motion graphics can be used to simplify and compress information instead of using static images we can easily convey what we want to say even without words in only a few seconds.
Early motion graphics start with just static images being moved and places at fast paces to convey movement between each image.
Experiments playing around with frame animation as well shape morphing.
Experimenting with sound incorporating it into my animation following our lecture I feel like sounds give another element to my work.
The sounds I added were sounds that I imagined hearing from these shapes as they transformed and moved around morphing as well as rotating.
Also had the idea of having a background sound so there aren’t awkward pauses in-between sounds, fading in and out sounds for smooth transitions.
I’ve added a crumbling paper sound in the background to go with the theme of the frame by frame style. I aimed to try and imagine what each shape could sound like and give them an Identity.
