Não Fere é uma poltrona para contestar o estado atual das coisas e demonstrar a utilização de um biofilme como alternativa ao couro animal. Com uma silhueta marcante e figurativa, a poltrona busca causar uma reflexão a respeito de não ferir os animais, mas protegê-los, substituindo sua pele por materiais que podem ser cultivados pelo próprio designer. O biofilme é desenvolvido em colaboração com a natureza, e com bactérias e leveduras da bebida kombucha, um material vivo, que cresce em apenas alguns dias, com vários formatos e tamanhos, e que depois de seco adquire características semelhantes ao couro. Pode ser pigmentado com corantes naturais, texturizado e tratado com óleo e cera vegetal, sem produtos químicos. É um material resistente e durável e ainda assim biodegradável. Para aumentar sua vida útil, o estofado pode ter seu biofilme trocado facilmente, permitindo atualizações ou o seu descarte separado dos outros componentes, como a estrutura em alumínio que é reciclável. A Não Fere é uma proposta de uma nova estética e uma nova experiência, com um material que possui aspectos únicos e o resultado é um móvel com uma concepção mais divertida, que comunica de uma forma não agressiva, mas que intriga. Com suas pernas que simbolizam um animal, sua cor impactante, o estofado com formas orgânicas e as grades que trazem leveza, e que por outro lado tem um conceito que propõem uma mudança, na forma como tratamos os animais, o meio ambiente e também na percepção em relação a materiais diferentes, e que possuem grande potencial em aplicações futuras. Don’t Hurt is an armchair to contest the current situation and demonstrate the use of a biofilm as an alternative to animal leather. With a striking and figurative silhouette, the chair seeks to cause a reflection about not injuring the animals, but protecting them, replacing their skin with materials that can be cultivated by the designer himself. The biofilm is developed in collaboration with nature, and with bacteria and yeasts from the kombucha drink, a living material that grows in just a few days, with various shapes and sizes, and that after drying it acquires characteristics similar to leather. It can be pigmented with natural dyes, textured and treated with oil and vegetable wax, without chemicals. It is a resistant and durable material and yet biodegradable. To increase its useful life, the upholstery can have its biofilm easily changed, allowing for updates or its separate disposal from other components, such as the aluminum structure that is recyclable. Don’t Hurt is a proposal for a new aesthetic and a new experience, with a material that has unique aspects and the result is a furniture with fun design, which communicates in a non-aggressive way, but intriguing. With its legs that symbolize an animal, its striking color, the upholstery with organic shapes and the grilles that bring lightness, and that on the other hand it has a concept that proposes a change, in the way we treat animals, the environment and also in the perception with different materials, that have great potential in future applications. Utilizando água, borra de café, açúcar e uma colônia de bactérias é possível coletar o biofilme em duas semanas, deixando apenas o recipiente em repouso, sem a necessidade de luz. É então feita a pigmentação vermelha com resíduos de beterraba, a secagem em temperatura ambiente e impermeabilização do material, com cera e óleo vegetal. O resultado do processo de experimentação foi um biofilme com dimensões de 1m x 1,5m.
