Assignment: 

1.  Why must they create every single sound for animations and games? 
The reason for this is because it makes animations and video games have a realistic experience to the audience watching or playing it. 

2.  Why can't actors/actresses actually smash a glass to have the real effect?
They can't actually smash a glass is because they'll might get hurt.

3.  Why can't actors/actresses use real explosions?
They can't use real explosions because everyone in the studio will get injured or hurt.

4.  Why can't movie crews install a real phone that actually calls the actor/actress? The reason is because it will take a long time to install a real phone.

5.  Why can't actors/actress attach microphones to their ankles to record the actual sounds? 
The reason for this is because the microphone will grab every sound they make which will make the actors'/actress' lines hard to understand.​​​​​​​

6.  Why can't actors/stuntmen/ and actresses/stuntwomen do their own fight scenes and actually make contact to make it look real?
They can't make their own fight scene or stunts is because someone might get injured which will probably lead to surgery.

7.  How do sound designers/directors know what all these science fiction sounds are supposed to sound like?


8.  Why can't they use a microphone when recording real rain? 
So that the equipment will not get wet in the rain.

Part c) 
- layering:
1. First Sound effect: 
Explanation: I tried going for an alarm sound effect but instead, I think, I ended up with a honk of a boat instead. What I first did is that I tried to slowed it down using the Stretch and Pitch in the Time and Pitch Effects. I tried to slow it to give a long and loud effect for listeners. What I did next is that I pitch shifted it to the lowest semitone then 68 cents. After that I used the flanger to make it sound like the listener was near the sound. I also used an FFT filter so I can increase the frequency of the sound. I added a reverb to make it really loud and I finally added a delay which has a delay time of 150 ms. 
2. Second Sound effect: 
Explanation: What I did for this is that I tried to do an explosion but from a long distance from the listener. What I first did was that I cut out the excess part that I don't need then made it longer using the stretch and pitch in the effects. After that, I lowered the semitones by 10 and the cents by 50. I then used the FFT filter and lowered the frequency, then used a reverb to give it an echo effect to make it look like you can really hear this from afar. Finally, I lowered the the sound's volume to make it not sound too loud. 
3. third Sound effect: 
Explanation: What I did is that I first slowed it down using the stretch and pitch un the effects. After that I lowered the pitch in the pitch shifter and made the frequency high. Then, I added a chorus in the modulation to make it sound like more than one is moving. I then also added a distortion to make it sound like it's really loud. I think this sounds like horses running.
