History of Egg Tart

Custard tart has long been a favorite pastry in Britain and the Commonwealth. These are often referred to as custard tarts or simply custard to differentiate egg fillers from the cornmeal-based custard commonly served. They are sold in supermarkets and bakeries across the UK. In the UK, custard is considered a classic British dish. A version of Marcus Wareing was chosen on the BBC TV show Great British Menu as the last dish of Queen Elizabeth's 80th birthday party. The tart is implemented as a single large tart from which the slices are cut, or as smaller starlets. Classically, they are always topped with just a French-style nutmeg bush or a Dutch-style cinnamon bush is not atypical.
