Design: King Wong and Larry Koo
Project: Natalie Chan

KOODESIGN’s Michelin 5818 is a durable yet streamlined tire repair air compressor. It is a compact automotive product designed to perfectly balance form and function.

Adhering to Michelin’s brand guidelines for the APAC region, the compressor is designed to prolong the lifespan of car tires, improving performance while reducing waste. This aligns with KOODESIGN’s mission to design products that minimize environmental impact. Another unique feature of the tires is a built-in sealant pump for repairing punctures, while a flashlight provides illumination in low-light conditions. Sturdy simplicity with sporty, automotive style.

In addition to specializing in precision audio products, KOODESIGN also has a background in designing sports accessories – from cycling components to protective wear for hockey and lacrosse, and other technical accessories. This experience was leveraged when it came to creating the Michelin Tire compressor. Sleek, converging lines provide a dynamic sense of movement and a sporting aesthetic, while maintaining the look and feel of the Michelin brand. Further visual clarity is achieved by aligning all the UI features consistently to avoid clutter and ensure simple usability.
