ONANOFF Fokus

Design: Larry Koo
Project: Natalie Chan

Created with a young educational audience in mind, the award-winning Fokus headphones were designed by KOODESIGN for innovative technology company Onanoff. To put it simply, they offer a range of settings that help the listener concentrate better. Music is not the primary intention here – Fokus headphones are designed to enhance verbal and other non-musical sounds to make them better for children, education and studying.

While these headphones function perfectly for music listening, what sets them apart is the design purpose – as an educational device. Particularly in online learning, clear voice settings are important, and these can be instantly adjusted with a simple button press. As a father, KOODESIGN lead Larry Koo knows what it’s like trying to get kids to focus. This informed much of the design approach, and helped outline the kind of features to be included. Fokus headphones allow you to switch from music mode to study mode with one button. In study mode the audio EQ adapts to isolate and enhance the voice track for greater clearly. By removing unwanted sounds it becomes easier to concentrate over long periods, with less distractions.

Fokus headphones follow a Nordic design aesthetic – the essence of simplicity. Neutral tones match perfectly across a range of materials from soft to durable, providing an appropriate look and feel for an educational environment. Meanwhile soft materials emphasize comfort and wearability, and a style that’s a little more mature and less flashy. Calm, collected and ready to focus.
