San Juan Estuary Bay Artist Residency: Augmented Reality for environmental education
This series of illustrated AR filters was created as part of my Artist Residency at the San Juan Estuary Bay Program. I aimed to create an accesible project that could be brought into the audiences' homes as the pandemic raged.
I applied my colored pencil illustration style into the virtual world, merging a stylized aesthetic in the AR environment. These illustrations where created in Adobe Fresco and Photoshop.
Somos Estuarinos- Points to the fact that humans are part of the estuary ecosystem, and it is our responsibility to care for it.
¿Qué especie eres?- Teaches the community about the different species found in the estuary
Mantén la calle limpia- An interactive game where users must catch the trash before it reaches the ground, in coastal towns anything that reaches the street reaches the sea
Alcantarillado sanitario- Interactive filter that explains how oil and grease disrupt the sanitary system and is dangerous to human and estuary life
Cómo disponer del aceite- Interactive filter that demonstrates how to throw out or recycle oil correctly
La Goyco- Filter celebrating La Goyco Cultural Community Center, head of many cultural and environmental innitiatives in the Machuchal and Calle Loíza community
Machuchal Limpio- A slogan in the Machuchal community "Clean Machuchal", where the residency took place

While creating these filters, I also ran a series of workshops for the community and Estuary Program audience, ranging from illustration to Spark AR and Branding and Content creation for non profits. We also had virtual open houses where I shared process through lives and stories in Facebook and Instagram.
