Project aim:  Design a shelving unit/system that challenges normal aesthetics &g form and utilises unconventional materials.

When considering how to approach this task, two main elements were considered.  

1) What does our existing understanding of shelves looks like?  How can this be challenged?

2) What un-conventional materials appeal to this function and are in large abundance?

From here various shapes, combinations and concepts were explored by sketching.

Everything changed once things moved into the physical. Lollipop sticks lying around the house provided a fantastic starting point for experimentation.

The orientation and arrangement of them came naturally.  The material did the work and chose its own path.
