[UI/UX] inTouch Music App

inTouch Music App
November 2020
This project is my own take on designing a music application prototype for mobile devices; the prototype has been created with Axure RP 9 and was inspired by Spotify and Pi Music Player apps. The idea came to me as I was wondering what application apart from well known Shazam could offer sound recognition and music player features in one. The results of my brainstorm can be seen below.
STAYING 'INTOUCH'
The name 'inTouch' refers to staying in touch with the music; I believe that whatever is happening around our person, music is and always will be there to keep our mood in great condition.
PROTOTYPE DETAILS
A clean view video presents how application can be used on a mobile device. Default viewport for the build has been adjusted to fit iPhone 11/11 Pro Max/XR/XS/Max (414 x 815) however, to ensure that other devices can also use the prototype, I have set the prototype to be responsive and automatically adapt to the screen size of the device in terms of height and width.
DESIGN & UX
Style: Significant amount of work was spent on the design aspect of the prototype; observing current standards regarding app design, I have also went with metro style which in my opinion fits well and is easy to adapt to.
Consistency: To ensure consistency in design, I have been striving for symmetry for eachp age, and while the amount of information on the screen is not overwhelming, having clear layout will make user adapt to the interface much easier.
Typograhy: As for typography, I have decided to go with Futura PT font in light and medium variations. It is clean, modern font that is displayed in white colour on dark background to stand out. Light variant gives a sense of space while medium one clearly stands out what indicates new or another section of the app.
Usability: This is the key point I was trying to work on throughout each project. The key use for music app is obviously listening to favourite tunes; for that reason, I have added mini-player for each page. Furthermore, operating the app is as important therefore, I decided to create sticky navigation bar that is always at the bottom so that user can jump around the app easily. Some developers are keeping navigation on the top while in my opinion it is not creating the best solution for a mobile devices that are usually controlled with a thumb.

CHALLENGES & OBSTACLES
Software: Azure RP9 was unfamiliar tool for me before I have started this little project however, after couple short hours I felt completely comfortable with what the software has to offer and I could say that transitioning between Adobe Photoshop, Azure and my mobile became almost mechanized process that was effortless.
Cloud Services: The second and most confusing for me was a cloud service runned by Azure itself; after bugfixing and last touches, I have tried to publish my work for further inspection on mobile devices and each variant of my project has been rejected for unknown reasons. The issue persisted for couple good hours only to suddenly disappear.
WHITE LABELLING THE PROTOTYPE
In order to prevent copyright infringement, I have decided to create as many assets singlehandedly as possible. Everything starting from background image, to song covers is made by me personally. The only exceptions are icons that are visible on navigation bar, shuffle icon, and headphones icon on the login page; these can be found at Flaticon.com
