GUISE - ART FILM
Directed and produced by Amira Roshdy.
In all its originality, GUISE is a parody of the art film genre, which is often considered to be non-structured, expressive, serious, and difficult to comprehend. Now GUISE is all of that, except it's anything but serious. The avant-garde film follows a specific aesthetic approach by pushing the boundaries of visual and contextual expression.

The whole attraction to surrealism lies in its promotion to the superiority of the irrational and the unconscious mind, while Dada encouraged the exploration of the role of the artist and the purpose of art. It also plays with Absurdism as a means to mock the non-existent narrative. It's an art film that transpires to and from nothing.

The film behaves to instill a lingering feeling in the viewer's mind, that is the frustration to understand and find the true interpretation to the meaning of this ball. The interpretation is meant to be answered by the viewer, often the ball represents something that is most personal to them. The film celebrates the viewer's independence to find meaning and personal exploration in an artistic piece. That is what art has always celebrated; the freedom to be.
