Spanish Tapas

Spanish Tapas

A project inspired by the fiery cuisine of Spain and its culture of tapas. A tapa originally meant “lid" used to tapar (cover/close) a glass of wine, is a kind of appetiser that accompanies your drink and in certain parts of Spain comes complimentary with your wine or beer. History traces tapas back to the Moorish presence on the Iberian Peninsula (7th-15th) where exotic ingredients were introduced to the Spaniards by the Moors, like saffron, almonds and peppers. Spain has a strong culinary history and some of the most enjoyable foods in the Mediterranean. Their tapas can be almost anything, from cold cuts and nuts to miniature versions of classic Spanish dishes.
