[Hand Mixer Redux]

This project was centered around the idea of redesigning a product to better suit the needs of a particular user group. I sought to redesign a hand mixer to fit the needs of parents with a young child or toddler. My goal was to create a mixer that could be used with only one hand.
My solution was to incorporate a trigger mechanism and single button to operate the mixer's speeds. The original Kenmore mixer I was redesigning also had a base in which it was stored. So to stay true to the original design, I designed an angled base that mirrored the form and material of the mixer. Unfortunately, I ran out of time to plaster and paint the base. However, the intention of the base is that the angle and shape of the opening would allow the user to easily remove and put back the mixer. The whisks would also be stored in the back of the base so that they could be inserted to the mixer with one hand.
I utilized orthographic drawings as reference when constructing my model.
Prior to the redesign, I was tasked with taking apart the original Kenmore mixer and constructing an exploded view model of the parts. The exploded view model helped me understand the interaction between the internal components and the designed exterior.
