this is observational drawing of some shells/seaweed from the beach i used inks when painting.
Here i put a bike torch behind a shell and used it to light up the seaweed when using the torch it made the shells really pop out and glow. when placing it on the seaweed it gave it a more evil more sinister view.
using lino cut i created a fish and took 3 different cuts of it and made them all separate colours giving it a more abstract and creative feel to it.
I tested several different ways to create a more abstract looking beach. One of the ways in which I experimented was to cut out circles from a piece of card and then using the positive and negative shapes of the circles I stuck them back on giving it a more 3D look creating layers and depth
here i was testing what way i would like to use to create the sea/sky in my final piece i tested several methods including bleach/linos and random lines using the top of a brush to create different lines in the sea and the lino being the sky.
i tested with modeling paste and modroc. The modeling paste gave a smooth/ lumpy look which i used on the smaller/longer part of the cliff where as modroc gave a more ruff and not as neat look which was good for the front part of the cliff as it made it look more crumbly and broken.
