DYD evolved from an approach to redefine tape dispenser into a format as simple as a paperclip. The single part / material / manufacturing process makes it an extremely compact, low-cost , durable & a sustainable alternative to the bulky dispensers available in market.
Crafted from thin sheet metal and single process manufacturing, the Design is extremely cost effective and robust.Unlike the conventional bulky tape dispensers, DYD is mounted over the tape and can slide along the rim as you dispense the tape
DYD comes flat packed in a simple envelope making it highly efficient for storage and transportation.
The concept evolved through many rounds of iteration and prototypes. Each step bringing it closer to a simpler and intuitive product.
DYD shares the story of a hermit crab by virtue of its symbiotic relationship with the tape, which also inspired it's crab 🦀 like form.
