Alarm Clock Redesign Model for a User with Arthritis

I chose to highlight the buttons on the top of the clock with a bright green color. Inspired by the Braun PA2 Projector designed by Dieter Rams, simple design and color choice can aid in directing the user's attention to how the clock functions. The buttons have been appropriately spaced out to fit the arc of a human hand. If this clock were to be fully engineered and produced, the buttons would have a touch quality similar to that of an iPhone home button, allowing the user to operate the clock with minimal pressure applied.
The clock can be enclosed with its exterior shell. The shell can also be removed and attached to the sides of the clock, acting as rests for the hands.
This alarm clock was specially redesigned for a user with arthritis. Above is an image of my hands taped as a way to simulate limited joint movement. Throughout the redesign and mockup process, I made sure to execute several taped joint tests to ensure that one could still operate the clock with a limited range of motion.
