KERINEIA is a large deer that lives in Keryneia, Greece. This deer is a sacred animal of the goddess Artemis, the goddess of the moon and hunting. This deer has gold horns and brass or copper hooves. This deer is capable of running faster than arrows. Euristheus ordered Heracles to catch this deer for Heracles' third task. In Greek mythology, the Kerineia Deer is also called a kerintis.
