As an alternative to following the standard Inktober prompts, I wanted to complete a month long project of fan art. I'm a huge fan of the 1984 film Ghostbusters I decided to create individual illustrations of moments throughout the film, focussing on key moments, or the jokes that hit.

One particular joke required 4 panels to draw, and not wanting to take up 4 days of the month, I did the setup on day 23 and the payoff on day 24, across 4 drawings. One of the greatest jokes in cinema history. 

The process required me to watch Ghostbusters from start to finish twice, making notes all the way through of key moments, then whittling that list of moments down to what I considered the crucial 31, these were plastered up on my wall with post-it notes to help me keep track over the month. 

With the 31 moments locked in, rough timestamps in hand, I rewatched a digital copy of the film and took screengrabs to act as reference pictures. Then across the month I made pencil drawings, inked in pen, scanned into Adobe Photoshop, cleaned up in Adobe Illustrator, then shaded back in Adobe Photoshop. 

To fit with the classic Ghostbusters logo I kept the images in greyscale with very occasional red highlights and red text. I used halftone patterns to give the images some depth and texture.
