Paul Lloyd's profile

Hesperus and Weston

In the past I've drawn some locomotives in a style reminiscent of Roland Emmett and/or William Heath-Robinson. The light railways operated by the late Colonel Holman F Stephens are perhaps the closest real world equivalent to that type of enjoyable nonsense.

These two locomotives, Hesperus and Weston both ran on his Weston, Clevedon & Portishead railway, and make a lovely study in mechanical quaintness together. I will admitted bit of artistic licence here - Hesperus and Weston's time the WC&P didn't overlap, though their overall lifespans did. Also somewhat in the painting - one of the WC&P's interesting Argentinian coaches.
