This piece will accompany an article in the Play Issue about librarianship. It discusses how libraries are at the forefront of innovation with regards to integrating play into learning, especially for adult users.
We went with the final rough, as it gave focus to the librarian - the guide and focus of the article. Visual clichés like the glasses and books add to the librarian narrative, whilst the vibrant colours, swirly shapes, and movement give it a fresh exciting feeling. My favourite detail is definitely the starry socks.

Counterpoint is risograph-printed, and this issue’s colours were yellow, red, and blue. By overlaying transparencies I was able to achieve a wide range of colours, including greens, oranges, and purples. This gives the illustration more depth and vibrancy, which fits with the playful theme.
