The series of artworks are an attempt to create an illusion through the use of light and depth in lines. As the name suggests, they have been inspired from 'stairs' and regular day to day geometry that we see around us.
The following artworks have been inspired from 'Terrace farming' practiced in the mountains. It is also a personal interpretation of 'Aipan - folk art of Kumaon (Uttarakhand)'.
An Aipan is considered incomplete and inauspicious without dots - 'Bindus'. The vertical lines - 'Vasudhara' are also an integral part of Aipan, they are always drawn in odd numbers as in the case of this artwork.
