JIGSAW VASE
WOOD I FINAL
Phase 1: The outlined sketch
Phase 2: Carving the interior
A carving project for my Wood 1 class final. I was inspired by the shapes created by the negative space in puzzle pieces. I created my own shape that would combine to become a vase. The first step was to draw the outline of the shape. The following step was to carve the inside of both sides. Then carving outside of the outlines to get the two pieces from the single piece of wood. Once I started that process I wanted to create more dimension on the façade and gouged out areas of the wood. Visually they remind me of wings. The following images are the final sculpture.
