In early 2000 I traveled to Savannah, Georgia via the University of Arkansas architecture department to look at a building site. We spent the following weeks designing a brownstone to complement the site and surrounding area.
My design choices reflected a recent trip to Cusco, Peru. I appreciated the terraced balconies and courtyards of the Cusqueno architecture and integrated that aesthetic into my design for the Savannah project. I also integrated elements that reflected the narrow stylized rectangular geometry represented in the work of Charles Renie Mackintosh.
