Hedehusene Bypark_A Virtual Library

The proposal for a new Hedehusene city park is a virtual library that combines culture with nature and the intellectual with the sensory. Based on the existing green qualities the park is rearranged to define a space for movement, imagination and reflection, which interact with the digital library. Because a crime novel is best read in the open and a study in meditation is best done to the sound of the wind in the willows.
The typical public library is an open space subdivided into smaller areas by bookshelves filled with books. The digital library has no walls and is defined only by the horizon and the natural landscape. The books are reduced to bitts and bookshelves are living trees. The city park´s cultural centre is renovated to include a cafeteria that serves the library users.
For example the area with hills in the park is a great landscape for movement and is chosen to reflect the library section for kids and youngsters. As you move into the area the library section is further subdivided and the electronic media may connect to a specific point, furniture, playground or a tree. The benefit of the city park is that you will be introduce to knowledge that you would not have found searching the e-library at home and ultimately discover something new, be surprised or meet at person that shares the same interest.
