VERTISCALE
By George Wyeth - Class of 2020
Vertiscale is a modular, moss façade system to create unique, bioactive green walls in urban environments. Developed to provide greater biodiversity within cities, Vertiscale provides habitat for around 77 unique macro- and micro- fauna. Inclusion of green infrastructure also improves happiness, productivity, air quality and local economy as well as lowering costs of heating, cooling and flood prevention. The scaled, overlapping design creates a simple environment, mimicking those that moss can grow in naturally. Using natural and recycled materials for tiles able to be retrofitted and individually repaired also designs with the circular economy in mind.
