MON ONCLE (1958) - JACQUES TATI - 10:28
CONTEXT OF THE SCENE: Main character (Hulot) comes to the office for applying a job. He meets the secretary and there are some misunderstanding of the secretary for Hulot (She thinks he is an indecent man that try to have a peep through the window where she is dressing because there are some footprints of him on the table but actually the footprints are made when he are struggle with the paint on his sole).
PROMINENT ELEMENTS: RED > ORANGE
Although the female is supporting character of the film, she is being more prominent in this scene who plays the role of leading the viewer's vision through sequence of dominant elements: the footprints -> the female -> the round windows.
RULE OF THIRDS
Here why the female is being prominent in this sense. By applying the rule of thirds, we can see that she is placed approximately on 2 of 4 intersection point of the grid. Our main character is mostly out of the frame. The most remarkable space: the center of the frame or the grid; however, contains no people but some furniture. There is an disconnection between the human and architectural space or elements. Due to the footprints, the center space is nearly left empty and the furniture seems like representational than functional. The environment completely hostile to the purpose of communication between people.

SEQUENCE OF VISIONS AND MOVEMENTS
Sequence of vision: Male -> Female -> Window
Sequence of movements: Ground -> chair -> table
LIGHT AND SHADOW
The female is given most of the light from two sources, which make her brightness stands out and reflects in her large shadow on the wall and working area, which is contrast to the male character: soft light and neutral brightness.

COLOR AND MATERIALS
Cool colors which mostly grey, follow with black and white are cover the most of the sense. Most of the grey or silver color come from the material: iron, glass or steel (consider as important material of "modern" architecture). This use of color tone give the sense of cold and cheerless of the space.
In contrast, the man has on his  a range of yellow color: brown to sand, which is a warm color. He also brings some another materials on his: wooden umbrella's handle, leather shoes,... This seems like the man is the only subject that has vitality. This also implies that Hulot is not belongs to this place (as a result, he is not employed).
