ILL 301.5 Characterisation

ILL 301.5 Characterisation
Project Brief:
This project required the conceptualisation and creation of our own character. The character had to be considered carefully in terms of the narrative, for the purpose of a future stop motion project. With the use of medium, texture, colour and figure pose, an interesting and engaging character was built. From there, an expression sheet was put together to further portray the character.

Design Strategy:
Since the project required a hand-built character, it primarily relied on a purposeful use and exploration of interesting texture, mediums and colours. The narrative behind the character set him in the early 1900s, working in a huge mansion as a butler. As per his job, he is a very left-brained and routine type of person. This informed the decision to keep him in monochromatic colour scheme. This also tied in with the old-school, film aesthetic behind the project.
