Uncle Kunkel's One Gram Band Product Design

Uncle Kunkel’s One Gram Band
For this project, I took a local band, "Uncle Kunkel's One Gram Band" and gave them a new identity. I would love to do this in the future for other bands that may need help developing an identity and getting it out to the world. For the product being sold I had a lot of different options, but I chose to sell their posters in a poster tube. Their band has really been inspired by other bands from the 70's and 60's, especially The Grateful Dead. So I took this information and put the same kind of style into the product design of the tube, along with their logo, poster, and other merchandise that could be sold.
The product design die line below wraps all the way around the canister or tube that the poster goes into. I used a variation of warm colored stripes as the background with an overlap of thin blue stroke lines to make it more psychedelic. Then I drew simple mushrooms while varying size and placement in a solid white color to not draw away from the background. I also included music notes rising to the top to fill in the space and to add another layer of depth to it. Then for the cap of the tube, the logo is shown on a plain white background.
For their logo, I stuck with the psychedelic 70's style and warped the Synthemesc font to fit perfectly with each other to create the illusion of a circle. The band has used mushrooms in some of their advertisements already, so I took this as their iconic symbol. I placed the name of their band on top of the drawing of a mushroom with a colored circle behind the entire logo for better readability and visibility of the mushroom. The idea of psychedelic is you have to look closer at the actual art to appreciate what it is. Hence why the readability may be altered.  I also allowed for the logo to be versatile by not needing to have the image of the mushroom behind it. Thus, the name of the band can stand alone as the logo as well in all black or white.
My color choices were also inspired by the psychedelic style using bright contrasting colors. I also wanted to use inspiration from natural objects as well. So I thought orange and green were the best colors to contrast from each other along with bringing the bright colors to see the drawn image.
