When a faucet is made, molten brass is poured into the mold, with a sand-epoxy core. as the brass casts through the mold, it continues to flow out the edges of the mold. That part, which flows out the edges of the mold is the sawed off manually.
That's the point I chose to polish, modify, smoothen the edges and apply lacquer.
