Saru Shrestha, 36, along with her 6-year-old daughter return home after picking marigold flowers from a field to sell in the markets ahead of the Tihar festival on the outskirts of Kathmandu, Nepal on Sunday, November 1, 2020. Marigold flowers are mainly used to make garlands for devotions during the festival of lights. Saru has been working in the fields for the past 12 years and this year has been tough on her due to the coronavirus pandemic. Her flower business has drastically gone down as there are very few people who are buying the flowers so she has started selling at a very reduced price. “This year I am struggling to raise my 2 daughters for education and running the house for basic survival” says Saru.
