Few people have been as important to my life as film director Gareth Edwards. His first film; Monsters, is what inspired me to follow my passion for film and the arts. His second feature; Godzilla (2014) helped me find my voice as an artist. Not a day goes by where I don't look at that movie as inspiration, and I know I wouldn't be nearly as successful of an artist without it. His most recent, and hopefully not last film, Rogue One doesn't hold quite as much of a deep emotional connection as his other two, but it is still a movie I love dearly and also inspires me. In this piece I take iconography from his three features, Sam and Andrew from Monsters, Godzilla from Godzilla, and the backdrop of Jedha and the Death Star test from Rogue One. Here the scene is turned on its head, instead of the Death Star destroying the planet, Godzilla is destroying the evil Empire as Sam and Andrew watch in awe. Thank you Gareth Edwards. I know that without your inspiration I would not be an artist.
