initial paper study, paper mock-up and muslin test. The muslin struggles to hold its shape, especially under strain. I choose felt for its rigid quality.
A benefit of using felt as opposed to a woven or a knit is that the edges do not need to be finished (i.e. no fraying). I choose to sew with the seams turned inside out to highlight the structure and engineering of the garment.
