The in situ art project
This is an art project I created on September 2020 in Chios island, in north Aegean Sea. The concept was to transform the decorative geometrical patterns of the buildings in one of the most famous villages of the island, to the third dimension. Therefore, I created sculptures and installations based on the geometrical shapes (mostly triangles, squares and circles) that decorate the external walls of the houses in this particular village. To locate my project, I chose a small field and the terrace of a house outside the village. I used natural and industrial materials, such as wood, rocks, hay, tiles, porcelain, etc, in order to find out their reaction to the simple surfaces of the ground and the cement. The project is based on the technic of land art and site specific art, because of the very specific location where it has been created.
