Watercolor + white gouache girl portrait painting

My thoughts in terms of creating are equally divided into two directions. First - all fantasy, imaginary and folk stories. Second - stories from life and my experience of human being, sketches from nature, plein-airs and people.
This painting belongs to the second direction (mostly). This little girl sitting in her mother's arms, I saw in a Mac cafe. At such moments, I try to make a video reference, remember the atmosphere, color/light, and why I wanted to implement this idea in the first place. Usually I immediately understand what kind of media I want for this artwork. I implement some things right away, but some of them lie until the best of times or until the moments "when you don't know what to draw".
In general, most ideas die immediately after they are born - as the hero of John Malkovich said in "Velvet Buzzsaw" movie. I noticed that if I don't implement the idea immediately, it very quickly, almost instantly seems insignificant, not new, not interesting and not worth wasting time. I struggle with this shift in focus to the drawing\painting process itself.

I wanted this painting in a small size with a big abstract bg and watercolor texture, with main focus on a girl face.
For this I used 100% cotton paper for the texture - splited in a half A4 sized Arches paper sheet. I painted mostly in watercolor, but with some mixes with white gouache on a face and sleeve.
Materials: paper @archespapers grain-fin • brushes @maleviches @brushesroubloff • watercolor and gouache paints @nevapalette
