Wayfaring Stranger Flipbook

Wayfaring Stranger
This project features a 72-frame animated flipbook exploring
the unphysical presence of nothingness as a haunting of a Being by their own shadow. The hand-bound flipbook employs a Japanese collation technique which allows for a duality of narrative, where the Being and its shadow occupy separate sequences of 36 frames each. The flip-through features alternating sequences of only shadow and only Being when flipping from the left and right corners respectively. When the user flips through from the centre
of the book, the sequences overlap to create an illusion of a
dual narrative, very much central to the notion of the presence
of nothingness within our physical being.
