Chiffon
Woven Light Design
Chiffon was an entry for WoodWorks Design competition.  The essence of the competition is to find an innovative use for domestic wood products and make wood beautiful.  The Chiffon reflects my fascination with woven objects.  I proceeded to cut strips of wood and weave them into various patterns.

The design development of Chiffon came from many hours of experimentation.  The final form is a result of allowing the material to stay within its natural curve.  One of the challenges I set for myself was to avoid using fasteners to enclose the form. I wanted to maintain a certain openness without sacrificing the structural strength.

The competition also required a business plan to accompany the launch of the project.  I was awarded second place in the competition.  I'm presently developing a second series of designs available for sale this spring.
