Development Sketches - These sketches that are shown are to determine what the street facing facade would look like.
Top view as well as street view of the Seed Banks facade. The facade show large amounts of curtain wall glazing with pitched rooves that match the surrounding factories.

Development Sketch - This sketch was to determine how the building would sit on the site as well as experimenting with petruding windows and entrances.

Development Sketch - Over coming problems came regularly when working on this project. With the seed bank basement vault which is at freezing temperatures of -40 degrees Celcius and the offices and labs at room temperature we had to overcome cold bridging. To overcome this issue we decided to completely isolate the basement level from the rest of the building which meant that the building would essentially free-standing on top of this Seed Bank vault. To stop the ground floor and first floor from moving about freely, I came up with the idea of using a puzzle-grid like structure for the foundation and vault ceiling to eliminate any sort of movement possible. This at the same time will stop cold bridging to occure.

Basement - The Vault. Super Cooled to -40 Degrees Celcius. Light, CO2 Fire Extinguisher and Power Sockets Grid. Freezer Vualts to store seed samples.
