Optimus Prime in Japan

Travel + Leisure Magazine Cover.

For this assignment I was prompted to create a Travel and Leisure magazine cover of somewhere you would like to go and then add a focal point that would capture the viewers eye and fit into the environment. I chose a main street in Japan and chose to put Optimus Prime.
Here is my work, on the right with the magazine text, and the left, without.
Why I chose Optimus Prime:

The reason I chose to display Optimus Prime is because he is a mecha. Although The Transformers is produced by American toy company Hasbro and Japanese toy company Takara Tomy; in Japan, "robot anime" (Aka "mecha anime") is one of the oldest genres in anime. Robot anime is often tied in with toy manufacturers. Large franchises such as Gundam, Transformers, Macross and Zoids who have hundreds of different model kits. With such a huge cultural impact I figured Optimus Prime, a figure known in both America and Japan would fit the scenery as well as stand out and make the piece interesting.
Inspiration:

I was inspired by actual Travel + Leisure magazines to add different fonts and colors because that seems to be the theme that Travel and Leisure go with, giving space for the main image to be the center of attention. They usually add what places they will be talking about or how many tips/ places will be included inside the magazine.
