Creative challenges on social medias are often inspiring and make it possible to get in touch with other artists and to reach different audiences. I really wanted to participate in one of them, but I was afraid not to be able to keep pace with one drawing a day. I wanted to achieve a coherent project and to make it on time ! The Slowtember challenge, created by @megaelod on Instagram and Twitter in 2020, was an excellent choice for me.
The challenge consisted in creating 10 drawings in 2 given prompts and in publishing them in September. As for the subject, I decided to focus on bucolic mice - a subject I am currently working on.
Having three days to produce each illusration allowed me to dissociate my workflow in three steps: sketching, digitization and colorization. Every morning I would wake up and validate the previous render before going further.
In the end, this challenge helped me to better assert the universe I'm currently creating, and become more confortable with those little mice drawing. It was very stimulating and I'm really looking forward to doing it again next year !
