Gesture Controlled Door Bell

For this project, we were required to gather research using the method of Human Centered Design to obtain similar issues that are being faced due to Covid-19. This research will then aid our process going further to come up with a suitable design to solve the problem using gesture control as a means of control.
HCD Research & Concept Proposals
I noticed a pattern from the feedback that users don't like the use of buttons or touching any surfaces. So I looked into door bells to see how they can be made safer in these times we are living in.
Brand & Precedent Research
I was assigned with the brand - Samsung. Therefore I had to do research into this brand, seeing their style, mood and advertisement techniques.
Ideation & circuit board development
Thorough research was done regarding the technical aspects of how the doorbell would work and what would be needed for it to work.
Mock Ups
I made mock ups out of foam to get a better feel, also to resolve any visual issues with the form/style of the product relating to the chosen brand - Samsung.
I went for this design as it fitted my brand best and the user can relate to it best, for instance: It is clearer that the doorbell is motion controlled rather than a button being visible to press.
Once I got a design, I could start to CAD my door bell taking into consideration the components and circuit configuration.
CAD & Draft Drawings
General Assemblies of the Transmitter and Receiver
Exploded views of the Transmitter and Receiver
Detail drawing of the Receiver
Renders
The front cover is made of a clear tinted plastic to allow the user to see any lights or technical features through the front.
There are slots open on the sides for easy access to the USB and power port.
Thank you for viewing!
