My daughter loves our chaise lounge in our bedroom, and when I saw her carelessly laying there under warm sunlight, it ironically reminded me of all the classic oil paintings of women in chaise lounges. Particularly Manet's controversial painting 'Olympia' came to my mind and gave me an inspiration to create this Lino print, in an attempt to remember this moment, when my daughter is still in her childhood but noticeably growing up so fast. 

I wanted to capture her child-like body caressed by an oversized chaise lounge, providing mother-like warmth. Her expression shows she's at complete peace, even daydreaming, perhaps of growing up. 

I purposely added the bedside table on the corner which symbolises the exciting yet unknown future ahead of her. I captured her eyes softly yet curiously gazing at this bedside table, which I hope draws viewers curiosity as well. 

The style of my print is inspired by Felix Vallotton, one of my absolute favorite artists from the 19th-20th century. His use of dramatic black and white felt powerful to use in this design.
