[P2] Principles of Gestalt

Principles of Gestalt [P2]
The objective of Project 2 was to explore and develop illustrations of Gestalt principles: Continuance, Proximity, Similarity, and Closure. All works were created digitally using Adobe Indesign and Adobe Photoshop. All works were also made using only the Platelet type face. All process work and additional images are recorded on Dropmark.

Continuance: Sense of movement that leads attention across an image. Continuity radiates from the center of the image to the outer edges. Platelet letters used: "L"

Proximity: the closeness of elements that creates a new unit made up of the smaller units close together.
The created element is are the triangular patterns at the top and bottom of the image. It is created out of the same center three arrows. Platelet letters used: "L"

Similarity: The alikeness of objects from color, shape, and texture. Similarity can be seen in the different groups of ellipses. Platelet letters used: "0" "8"

Closure: Visual closure is done with an image being perceived as another to find the image complete. The viewer becomes a part of the process by closing the image within their mind. Do you see a face? Glasses? Platelet letters used: "E" "P" "L"

Vinyl: Mockup created on photoshop. Principle of Closure

Cover: mockup created on photoshop. Principle of continuance. Gradient used radiating from the center to give additional depth and atmosphere.

Mockup: objective was to implement designs displaying principles of Gestalt onto an album cover and vinyl. In addition, exploration of colors was a goal. Adjacent colors–green and blue.
