2. exploring visual principles of gestalt

Objective: Using letterforms, create captivating images that demonstrate the Four Principles of Gestalt: proximity, continuance, similarity, and closure. All images were developed using the platelet text created by Conor Mangat. To see the process from project brief to completion, click here.

Proximity: When visual elements are grouped together closely attract the eye using visual unity.

Continuance: Visual elements in a line or other shape are used to lead the eye to a certain part of a piece.

Similarity: Similar visual elements are grouped together based on size, shape, color, and direction.

Closure: Visual elements appear incomplete or unattached but our minds naturally close the gaps to make them complete.

Application: Mockup created using photoshop.

Application: Using the principle of closure, I added my image to the cover and center of the vinyl. Then using analogous combination of colors, I chose four colors to make this an eye-catching image. The platelet font was used for this with the character 'M'.
