The Convex bottle opener was once a huge ball bearing inside an industrial wind turbine. Now, it rests easy in the home, far from that constant pressure and turning.

We found one of these fist sized ball bearings and knew we had a great opportunity. Like a mesmerizing magic trick, it warps and reflects the whole room in its smooth curved surface. A piece of industrial equipment that was just begging for a more domestic life.

We sampled a dozen different reflective steel balls before we managed to source a reflective 304 stainless steel ball that had the quality and reflective finish we needed.

We laser cut a hexagon hole into the base, transforming it into a functional bottle opener.  The hexagon hole makes three bottle-cap-gripping jaws while also giving the sphere a clear resting point. 

An elegant tool for the home with no need to be hidden away in a drawer. It can sit proudly on display warping and reflecting everything around it.

We created a gold plated version as well. The golden hue transforms the reflection much like looking through a glass of beer.
