MAGAZINE LAYOUT DESIGN
inspired by de stijl
This is a layout practice for my school project. I made an Art Magazine with a brand new name: Compile.
Compile means gather or put together. Which reflect in the editions of this magazine. Each edition brings various topics from different art movements in the history such as Psychedelic Art, Pop Art, Surrealism, Frida Kahlo and Ukiyo-E. For this edition, i choose De Stijl as the movement of the month, with the sub title 100 years of De Stijl.
De stijl (means: 'The Style' in Dutch) is one of the art movements in 1917, also known as Neoplasticism

This movement was born when the World War I was happening, the avant-garde of De Stijl feel that the world need something full of peace. They want to make a universal art, that the world can find calming in the middle of war. De Stijl use three primary colors (red, blue and yellow) and geometric shape, usually with asymmetrical balance.

On this edition, i choose De Stijl specifically because it is my favorite art movement. I just love the idea of simplicity and the fact that De Stijl's impact until today not only in arts and architecture but also in graphic design, fashion, and even music
Note: I made the layout design of this magazine and I don't own any of the photos.
