DWELLERS

The project focuses on the future of our post war/socialist modernist era dwellings, and tries to rebuild the neighbourhood to answer the problems of the pandemic as one community. The buildings where hundreds and many times thousands of people live became one huge quarantine. There is a possibility that they can adapt to this situation by becoming a self sustaining machine, the advantages of which can be used even after the pandemic. We tried to redesign the function scheme of these blocks of flats and rearrange the community which lives inside it to protect it from physical and mental illness. First of all we must add some new features to the house to function as a full time shelter and satisfy the people’s needs. The dwellers have to pick roles in the community based on its needs: gardener, cook, kindergarten teacher, nurse and so forth. They also have to free up flats and seize the abandoned ones where they can establish new functions such as medical rooms, cafeteria places for work and study, nursery etc.
