Ground Station Booking

The startup Arctic Space Technologies tasked us, a group of four industrial design engineering students, with designing and visualizing one of their potential future products - a user interface for booking ground stations for satellite owners. The projects scope went from developing the initial concept to the delivery of an interactive prototype. The company already had a graphic profile that we used in our implementation.

Process

Through an iterative, user-centered design process divided into three phases: inspiration, ideation and implementation, we designed the system with continuous feedback from the people at Arctic Space Technologies and space engineering students at our university. Our final iteration was tested against leading professionals at Esrange Space Center in Kiruna.

Result

Arctic Space Technologies were happy enough with the finished product that they pitched the concept using our prototype and films to the Swedish Space Corporation as something they could develop.
