In many countries, including the UK, the size of new urban homes is continuing to shrink, offering less living space. 55% of the world’s population currently lives in urban areas, this figure is due to increase to 68% by 2050. Space is taking on great importance and the 11% of UK population that reside in urban zones must cleverly make use of balconies as extensions of their home despite their limited average size of 4 feet. 

The idea for this project was to create a product that offers a unique design aesthetic with modern space saving technology to allow new consumers to thrive in the urban environment which is not historically favourable for gardening.
